Temascal

The word temascal originates from the Aztec, "tema," meaning house, and "calli," meaning vapor or steam. The structure made from mortar and stone is symbolic of Mother Nature's womb. Through the use of steam and healing herbs, the temascal ceremony aids in the purification of both the body and the spirit. The stones from the which the temascal is built represent generations of grandmothers who embody the knowledge of the earth. The invite us to reflect on the past, as experience the temascal ritual is an opportunity to free ourselves from that which we no longer need in our lives and allows us to live wholly in the present.

The natural elements brought together in the temascal are:

• Water - a symbol of blood, fluids and emotions
• Earth - the body and physical matter represented by the temascal itself
• Air - aromatic steam as our life's energy and breath
• Fire - the embodiment of the spirit through hot volcanic stone

Fertility Ceremony

Dare to relive ancient mystical ritual by sharing this experience with your partner and allowing us to pamper you in our Mayan Fertility House. Upon your arrival, you will be presented with a taste of Xtabentum, the sacred anise and honey liqueur imbibed by the Mayans during their ceremonies to help induce a deeper connection with the divine world. A request will be made for abundance in all facets of your life, as your bodies are covered in a blanket of seeds and gently massaged by healing hands. For this journey, you will be accompanied by the sound of beating drums, ancient songs and meaning words for your heart.
