KOR HOTEL GROUP TAPS 30-YEAR HOSPITALITY VETERAN VICTOR LOPEZ TO EXPAND LATIN AMERICAN/CARIBBEAN PRESENCE
- High-profile executive to focus on third-party management and acquisition opportunities for luxury hotel operator -
April 2007 (Los Angeles) - Tom Hendrick, Executive Vice President of Acquisitions and Development for the Los Angeles-based hotel, real estate development and management firm, The Kor Group, is pleased to welcome Victor Lopez as a member of the company's development team under a strategic partnership with South Florida's Related Group, the multi-billion dollar real estate development firm headed by Jorge M. Perez. Lopez will be based out of Kor's regional office in Miami, Florida and will oversee third-party management agreements and acquisition opportunities for the strategic partnership with The Related Group in the high-volume business/leisure markets of Latin America and the Caribbean.
"Victor has 20 years of experience dedicated to the Latin America and Caribbean regions with Hyatt Hotels Corporation," said Hendrick in making the announcement. "He has gathered vital experience and demonstrated remarkable savvy in the negotiations of international acquisitions. His expertise and insight will serve Kor well as we expand our portfolio further in each of these burgeoning regions."
Lopez joins Kor with a distinguished, 30-year-plus hospitality career with Hyatt Hotels Corporation in a variety of senior management positions. Most recently, he was Senior Vice President of Development for the company, responsible for international acquisitions and development primarily in Latin America and the Caribbean. Lopez was instrumental in the development of an upscale, Park Hyatt property in Mexico City, a Hyatt Regency Resort on the Yucatan Peninsula and resort projects in Columbia, Costa Rica and several throughout the Caribbean. Prior to that position he served as Hyatt's Senior Vice President, Field Operations, where he directed operations for 23 properties in these same regions and played an integral role in the development and management of a number of Hyatt's most popular and inventive programs, including Spa Hyatt. During his tenure in this position, he also gained wide recognition for major innovations in his development of Hotel Victor in Miami, Florida.
