Mayan Culinary Experience
Viceroy Riviera Maya has created an extraordinary journey that takes you through the lush rain forest to the Casita Maya, a rustic hut built exclusively for the purpose of preparing food and bringing people together. As you reach the jungle clearing, you will be welcomed with refreshing drinks and appetizers representative of our extraordinary Mexican heritage. Our chef will be your guide on a most magnificent and memorable journey into the past. He will give you a brief introduction to the preparation of this Mayan specialty while you witness the process of creating an authentic feast cooked in a pib.

Good Wish Mayan Ceremony
A Mayan ritual preformed to reconfirm love and compromise. The bride is dressed in hand made Mayan attire and a crown of flowers. The groom wears white linen guayabera. Ceremony begins with a purification by Shaman before the ceremony. Different symbols of nature awaken to accompany and bless the union offering peace, love and abundance. To finalize, the couple’s calls its wishes upon the flower petals. Wishes are carried in flower petals that are thrown over the sea to keep these alive in the movement of the ocean. The ceremony is spoken in Maya dialect and instructions are given in English.

Ek Balam / Biosphere / Sac Actun Culture & Action Expedition
Stemming from the Mayan words for "star" and "jaguar," Ek Balam - or "The Jaguar Star City" - was once home to the archenemies of Chichén Itzá. Enjoy an archaeological site tour, where you can view a ball court and two palaces built in the middle of the jungle and climb the palace of Ukit Kan Lek Tok, a recently-discovered tomb that has become the masterpiece of Maya sculpture.
