Archaeological Site Excursions
Numerous landmarks and ancient cities reside nearby for exploration: Xcaret, Cozumel, Xel-ha, Tulum, Cancun, Cobá, Isla Mujeres, Sian-Khan, Chichén Itzá, Akumal, Valladolid, Merida and Uxmal. For many, the resort offers specialized tours and packages with a professional guide.

  • Tulum: Enjoy a panoramic flight and guided tour of this ancient Maya fort city set dramatically along the cliffs of the Caribbean. The ruins feature defense walls, a rampart walk and parapet.

  • Cobá: Take an exciting expedition deep into the heart of the Yucatán rainforest to witness a less-frequented side of Mexico. Climb Nohoch Muul temple (the tallest pyramid in the state), swim the crystal waters of the sacred Cho Ha cenote and enjoy lunch in an authentic Maya village.

  • Chichén Itzá: Explore mysterious Chichén Itzá, considered by many as one of the seven new wonders of the world and certified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. A professionally guided tour will allow you to witness the magnificence of the 75-foot-high Kukulkan pyramid, the Temple of the Warriors, the Ball Court, the Observatory and more. Then, visit a beautiful cenote to swim.

  • Ek Balam: Stemming from the Mayan words for "star" and "jaguar," Ek Balam - or "The Jaguar Star City" - was once home to the archenemies of Chichén Itzá. Enjoy an archaeological site tour, where you can view a ball court and two palaces built in the middle of the jungle and climb the palace of Ukit Kan Lek Tok, a recently-discovered tomb that has become the masterpiece of Maya sculpture.

  • Reservation of the Biosphere of the Spider Monkeys: Embark on this cultural journey that first takes you through an original Maya Village, where you can actually visit a native house and even prepare your own tortillas the same way the Mayas did one thousand years ago. The expedition continues when you walk through the jungle and paddle a canoe across a lagoon to see spider and howler monkeys. Reach the highest point of the reservation and strap yourselves in climbing harnesses to cross the 120-meter-long lagoon by zip line.

  • Sac Actun Cave System:
  • Spanning 132 kilometers, the Sac Actun Cave System is the longest of Mexico's famous natural wonders. Journey into these caverns and discover beautiful cenotes and underground rivers, where you can practice snorkeling and cave diving.
